Thesis defense Max Fürst - June 2019

Hurrah!!!

Max successfully defended his thesis, and was even awarded ‘cum laude’!!! Well deserved, as he has done a marvelous job in discovery and engineering Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenases.  In case you want to read his thesis “Robust monooxygenase biocatalysts: discovery and engineering by computational design: it is available at the RUG website (and most chapters have appeared as papers).

Biotrans 2019

Last summer, together with Gerrit Poelarends (left), we organized Biotrans2019 in Groningen.

See how happy we were at the meeting, here with Frances Arnold who gave a great opening lecture!

Group activity October 2019

After a ‘Dutch’ diner: we have been brewing some beer and playing games. Great fun! Coco is guarding the beer. It should be ready before the Sinterklaas diner in December…

Christmas 2019

Celebrating a combined Sinterklaar&Christmass with a diner. All groupmembers contributed with interesting and tasty food and drinks. Also, the self-brewed beer was ready to test: tasted great. After a quiz (Hugo seems most knowledgeable in useless facts), surprise presents were great to unpack.
